REFLECTIONS ON BRAZIL COLONY
Some stories that History didn't tell

We deal with the theme "culture and development" with the intention of bringing questions about Brazilian colonial history, based on cultural manifestations of carnival triggered by certain samba schools of the first division in Rio de Janeiro. It is justified by the tension of our times, which promotes reflections of a nefarious colonial past, poorly resolved, explained in the plots of samba schools Paraíso do Tuiuti, “my God, my God, is slavery extinct?” (2018), and Estação Primeira de Mangueira, “Stories for Lulling adults” (2019). We aim to strengthen the debate on the revision of colonial history and official memories through the forms of social communication. The plot sambas and the images of the parades of the associations are elements of reflection. From this place, the samba schools Tuiuti and Mangueira promoted a new agenda in the dynamics of the schools' struggles in the formatting of survival strategies, whose maintenance gains relevance in the exercise of the return to the origins, in which they present the confrontation of the official historical truths and they refute through their cultural practices based on valuing the ancestry of African and indigenous peoples.
