The text that follows aims to analyze some of the concepts developed by Walter Benjamin. In particular, it seeks to understand the nature and implications of the concepts of experience and narrative and see them in the light of their influence on historiography. It seeks to understand how the poverty of communicable experiences denounced by the author affects the narrative, contributing to the dissemination and fortification of barbarism. It also seeks to understand the reverse way of the experience / narrative dichotomy. Finally, it aims to inquire about the role of historiography, within the Benjaminian conception, as a tool that can be used as a way to challenge and, eventually, stop the advance of barbarism. To this end, a bibliographic review of some of the essayist's productions will be developed, aiming to highlight each of the aforementioned steps.
