Abstract

This article proposes an exploratory analysis about the actions of the public authorities of the Brazilian cities that make up the UNESCO Creative Cities network, in the elaboration of actions to help and foster the economy of culture during the social isolation caused by the global health crisis in the period of the pandemic of corona virus. First, the theoretical contextualization is carried out, discussing the concepts of Creative Cities and the economy of Culture, presenting the theoretical composition that supports the developed path, then the data collected on the Brazilian cities that compose the network are analyzed, starting from the extraction of information contained in the electronic addresses of the institutional platforms of the cities observed. Finally, considerations that point out the actions promoted by cities are pointed out, portraying different behaviors of the public power and some aspects that demonstrate actions with low impact in guaranteeing security and fostering the economy of culture during the dynamic transformations of the market caused by social isolation, but that also reflect the need for a better structure for the distribution of resources and the reach of development strategies even under normal conditions. This article comprises the development of interdisciplinary works from the interdisciplinary master's program on Development, Technologies and Society at the Federal University of Itajubá.
